Last January me, my mum and the dogs of course visited the Cairngorms up in the scottish highlands. It was an incredible trip and I fell in love with Scotland completely. So then in November of last year I organised another trip to Scotland as a birthday present for my dad, this time we went to Dumfries and Galloway.
We stayed in a beautiful cottage in Brighousebay. I mean look at that view we got to wake up to! The cottage slept 6 and dogs were allowed (no limits) which isn’t always easy to find when you have 3. It had everything we needed and the lady who owns the cottages is a truely lovely lady and makes it a very welcoming stay.
Just a short walk from the cottage and you were on the beach and could walk along to a small shop for the morning paper. It was a short drive to the village kirkcudbright but had everything we needed,a small supermarket for food and there were a few nice dog friendly pubs to rest your feet after a long day of walking.
We visited Kirroughtree which is one of the 7 stanes mountain bike trails which also has some lovely walking trails which the dogs and us thourally enjoyed.
As we were just below the Galloway forest we made a trip to the red deer range which was really special. The deer are wild but are very inquisitive so came over to say hello.A little further along the same road if you’re very lucky, which we were, you get to see wild ancient goats which was amazing.
My dad is an avid bird watch so we visited a few rspb reserves although dogs are not allowed on the reserves there was always beautiful walks to be found nearby which worked perfectly for us.
Mr Todd certainly enjoyed his first holiday with us and gives Brighousebay holiday cottages his stamp of approval!
